Long Time, No See

Its been a while since I've posted as you can see and alot has happened with the aerogardens, first off I ordered another with the TV offer so I got the herb appeal collection and planted an international basil kit which have all already sprouted in 5 days I also moved the italian herb kit into the hydroponics setup and it is doing well, this week I am expecting from aerogarden the master gardener kit for your own seeds and the Strawberry kit which will be replacing the italian herb kit unfortunately I will be skiing and cannot take pictures but hopefully I will get you some ASAP

My mom came back from her tip today with the camera so I can finally take photos, a quick trip to the nursery has caused alot of new updates, I decided that the garlic chives were going to stay as pathetic and not sprout so I replaced them with the thriving regular chives from the gourmet herb. I bought some burgundy bean , garlic chives, and sensative plant seeds from the nursery and planted them in the domes from the other plants with some sponges similar to the ones in the aergarden and some soil to see which would be faster, placed the whole thing under the lights to sprout, here are some updates from the Italian herb:

Parsely- slow to sprout but growing fast domes removed and producing its first mature leaves now

Savory-one lone sprout, growing tall though dome removed looking great!

Garlic Chives- pathetic looking, two sprouts, replaced with regular chives and planted with some new seeds from nursery to see if it would help

Oregano- Probably biggest and most plentifull plant maturing fast!

Mint- growing fast now, lots of sprouts!

Genovese Basil- growing fast! biggest roots award!

Thyme- lots of growth, growing fast

Aerogrow.com is now adverstising a strawyberry kit! It has already growing strawberries and are ready to produce fruit! Arogarden week #2

It is day 14 now and everything has sprouted, even the parsely (predicted 15-21 days) I have removed the domes on the oregano, basil, thyme, and parsely since the seedlings are so big, so far I have only 2 chives sprouts :( and 1 savory although the savory looks healthy. The mint is very healthy and will probably have its dome removed tommorow. No pictures yet due to being extremely busy but the add water and nutrients lights came on today for the first time, hopefully the savory and chives will like the sprouting nutrients better than the starting nutrients, I have created a hydro chamber for th gourmet herb kit I have purple basil (sprouted, lookuing healthy), chives (sprouted, looking healthy and plentiful), basil (sprouted), and mint (just starting to sprout), I also have expermented with some of my own lettuce seeds and dill havent sprouted. they are being grown under the aerogarden lights with the other plants for now, once they get a bit bigger (not seedlings or taking up the room of the italian plants) I will build a bigger system and place them under the lights. The italian herb have the Basil, mint, parsely, oregano, and thyme growing upward and starting a seond set of leaves. the rest are just a little behind them. Also the basil, oregano, and thyme have roots out of their pods now, the basil has the biggest system so far. Pictures by saturday

Aerogarden Italian herb - Day 8

The aerogarden is still looking strong the mint, basil, oregano, thyme, chives, and parsely look to have sprouted or at least set out roots the chives are looking really unhealthy, I am concerned for there health, one seedling has emerged and the rest seem to be a jumbled mess of roots in the pod hereare some photos so far: Oregano looks stffed with life, Im wondering about removing the dome, Anybody got any ideas?
Same for the BasilPretty Blury, but thyme looks fantastic!!!!

I decided to do a little experimenting with the remaining free gourmet herb kit, I put them in a water saucer with a little nutrients: I planted the basil, purple basil, chives, dill in one saucer, the mint in another, ciliantro in with the hydroponis system, and the parsely was sacrificed to do a little experimenting with my seeds it is day 3 and so far Basil, Purple Basil, and chives have sprouted, am thinking about trying these in a homemade hydro systemSaucer #1

wow! the cress seems to be the only thing that is really doing good in the hydro system so far, the savory looks like it might survive though, the spinach looks to have sprouted so does the mint, te parsely doesnt look that succesfull either I dont know what Im doing wrong but the cress is actually starting to put out a new set of leaves, I cant wait to see what they look like here are some photos so far: As you can see the cress is abseloutly fantastic so far, I'll cver these up untill they bloom hopefully The small yet healthy savory seedlings, I hope these surviveMint and a few old spinach seeds

Aerogarden Italian Herb - Day 6

Ok so th chives are starting to unwind and the savory and mint have started, the mint has started in masses and the savory is a little slower, still no parsely so 6 of 7 on day 6, Not bad definately, this may seem crazy for the sixth day but seems worth the $150 and more!

Aerogarden Italian Herb - Day 5

It is Day 5 of the aerogarden and there are already seedlings in 4 of the seven pods! The Basil(Predicted sprout time 4-7 days), Thyme (predicted sprout time 5-10 days), Oregano (predicted sprout time 6-12 days), and chives (5-10 days) have started with the savory(7-12 days) just beginning (still waiting on: Italian Parsely [15-21 days] and mint [6-10 days]). I am extremely impressed with the growth of these by far faster than any other system on the market (And definately worth 150 bucks by the way). I have started to chart the sprout times of my plants here i is so far:

Day 1 (1-10-07)-

Nothing Sprouted

Day 2 (1-11-07)-

Oregano- starting its tiny roots

Day 3 (1-12-07)-

Oregano- starting to emerge from its seeds, other little seedling tarting to appear

Basil- 2 little seedlings appear with roots and tiny leaves.

Thyme- what looks like about 15 seeds sending out little roots I am worried about thinning but the booklet says not to, so I'll stick to plan.

Day 4 (1-13-07)-

Oregano- two seedlings fully emerged from seeds and have little leaves

Basil- A couple of little seedlings are poking up I havent officially counted them but it looks around 3 or 4

Thyme- About 15 little seedlings starting to show leaves

Garlic Chives- A good bunch of seeds sending out roots

Day 5 (1-15-07)-

Oregano- Several seedlings emerge, full leaves

Basil- 3 seedlings poking through with leaves

Thyme-Pod is full with green little seedlings looks to be around 15 little thyme seedlings

Garlic Chives- Roots getting longer, hopefully by tommorow they will emerge little plants

Savory- Little roots starting to poke into the sponge

Aerogarden- Day 3

It is day 3 for my aerogarden and so far the only activity I have spotted is an Oregano sprout in the Italian herb kit. I cant see anything else and dont have the guts to remove the domes and check, The oregano has a predicted sprout time of 7-12 days, the second longest in the kit so im hoping the others are as fast. The sprout is still to small to photograph so i willl once it is untill then, goodbye

Hydroponics update

Ok so I have moved the system over by the aerogarden. Some of the previous sprouts died, I dont know why, their roots just got brown and then the plant died. Since than instead of thyme I planted Spinach and it has since sprouted and the Savory is sharing a cube with catnip. The first kind of Lettuce has died so i planted butterhead instead and the cress is as strong as ever, growing incredibly fast. Here are some pictures. The whole setup aerogarden far left

Yesterday I recieved my Aerogarden, I did not buy it from the original company but from a seller on ebay since they had in directly in stock, and black (the color i wanted). I still have the warranty on the Grow Bulbs(6 months), Seed Kits(untill experation date, around October), and Aerogarden (1 year) even though i bought it from a reseller. I planted them yesterday (1-10-07) And I used the Italian Herb Kit even though every kit comes with a gourmet herbs kit. Every Kit comes with pre-seeded pods, nutrients, domes (for humidity) and manuals, however since the gourmet herbs came with the kit and the italian herbs came from a local nursery in the colorado springs area (Ricks Garden Center). Here are some pictures of what I have so far.

small 4 plant hydroponic system

I recieved a small 4 plant Killer Green hydroponics system and decided to post updates to show how affective it really is at growing plants and if it can live up to its claims of 5 times faster than soil. I decided to try to post updates every day, I set up the system and placed CD case covers over it to replace system, i used Liquid Karma for the nutrients and also a few drops of Flower Magic. This is the eleventh day and unfortunately my first update
